Sierra Delta is a nonprofit wellness community rooted in service, connection, and the bond between people and dogs. Through a nationwide member network, we support those who have served by providing access to curated dog training grants, educational resources, meaningful service opportunities, and a community built around purpose and companionship.

By joining this movement, we help raise awareness and support for the veteran community while continuing Sierra Delta’s mission of supporting veterans through purpose driven programs, dogs, and community.

Brian and Onyx
Brian H. joined the U.S. Army in 2020 after serving with AmeriCorps NCCC, traveling the country to help communities recover from natural disasters. Originally from South Carolina, he followed in his father’s footsteps and has since served in air defense roles in Germany, Kentucky, and across Europe. With support from Sierra Delta, Brian is training his dog Onyx to become a service dog as he builds a future centered on family, purpose, and service.

Christine and Ash
Christine M. is a proud veteran who served across multiple branches of the military in the early 1990s, including roles in EOD training and civilian contracting. Now based in Virginia, she works as a substitute teacher and varsity baseball coach, staying closely connected to athletics and mentorship. With support from Sierra Delta, Christine is continuing her dog Ash’s training, strengthening a bond rooted in purpose, routine, and life outdoors.

Angela K. and Luna
Angela is a U.S. Navy veteran who served in the early 1990s, gaining a strong sense of discipline, resilience, and purpose. Originally from Chicago and now living in Nashville, she is training her puppy Luna to become a service dog with the support of Sierra Delta. Together, they are building trust, confidence, and the skills needed to navigate everyday life.

Luis D. and Valentino
After serving four years in the U.S. Army, Luis D. returned home facing a life-changing diagnosis that left him legally blind. Determined to keep moving forward, he found a new partner in Valentino, a rescued pit bull who quickly became his battle buddy. With Sierra Delta’s support, he is training Valentino to become a service companion and help him reclaim the freedom he finds on the trails.

John and Max
After a distinguished career in the U.S. Air Force JAG Corps spanning over twenty years, John S. now faces life with a rare neurological diagnosis. Determined to move forward with strength, he partnered with Max, a young Goldendoodle now training as a service dog. With support from Sierra Delta, Max is receiving specialized training to assist John as he navigates this next chapter.
